Zenith plasma tv picture blinks on and off, sound ok
I had two black lines going up and down. I fixed those with new solder. Had green dots and and picture blinking or flashing black with sound still coming through good. I was told to replace the Y-sustain board. I replaced it with a new one and it only fixed the green dots. What is causing the picture to cut in and out?

Make sure the connection from the service provieder is clear and working. If i were you and were having all of these problems, i would call in a professional to diagnose the problem in person, because this is somewhat difficult for us to diagnose in person.
Let`s see if we can get to the bottom of this.Unlike the other responses you have recived we are going to bypass all the magnetic fields, and other ideas that have nothing to do with how a plasma TV works. This unit is actually a LG Tv.I work on these all day long so let`s see if I can help you. What was the original problem that this unit was having ? When you say the picture is blinking off and on,is the uniit powering off and coming back on or is there actually a picture that blinks off and on?How rapid is the picture bliknking?
On the back of the panel on the left side up top you should see a white sticker as listed VA:60/VS:185.These are your operating voltages for your Y-sus And Z-sus.The connectors @ the top of thr Y-SUS board will have these labled VS and VA.I see you have a voltmeter. On the same connector you will see GND.This is ground.Set your meter to DC and check the voltages. You can stick your meter leads right into the connector where the wires go in.The black goes to GND and the red goes to VS or VA. Turn the TV on and check to see if these voltages are close to what the sticker indicates they should be?Also check to see if they are changing as the picture flickers.Let me know what you find and we can go from there.
Your main doad went out. You need to replace it.
It could be the tuner board going bad..
do yourself a favor.....call a repair man out..people are telling you the same things youve already done and not bringing you a solution and it will save you time and money in the long run
Hi!
Check also for any cold solders or loose connections or faulty cable.
If you cannot locate "free" on-line info this link is a good source to "buy" what you need
Check wether u have some high sound speakers or some kind of magnetic field close to your tv.it should be atleast 2 feets away and then after taking away such disturbance causing things,u will need to shut off and power on ur tv multiple times everytime keeping your tv on atleast for 2 minutes until those cutouts go completely from screen.
rate the solution accordingly.
Make sure that there is no Magnetic feild around the plasma.
Test cables and lower buffer, more likely the problem is a defective video processor IC on main board, that is not serviceable, and board miust be replaced.
Test also inputs, check that it is not just a bad signal board or a input/cable problem.
You need to test the VSC board (video scan converter), and the digital board.
Testing this boards is not easy operation, and you need to follow indications on service manual.
Service manual can be purchased from Zenith, or from sellers like Vance Baldwin or partstore.
To give you an idea, here is service manual for a similar model.
