off switch, thermostat, and both seem to function properly. I have done a resistence check of the heating element, with a value of 22.50 ohms for the 600 watt, 14.38 ohms for the 900 watt, and 36.82 ohms for the 1500 watt. There is no evidence of oil leaks. What else can I look for? Does the oil break down over the years of service? Thanks in advance for your help. Mike
Heating & Cooling - Lakewood - Oil-Filled Electric Radiator Heater
No, the oil does not break down over the years of service. These units are made and sealed from the factory. The purpose is to make a unit that does not require repairs and will run for years. It appears that the TSTAT is not sending proper amperage through. My suggestion is to replace the unit as it costs more to repair then to replace. Sorry for the bad news, but these units are just not meant for service, hence the price.
