I have an AT4040 Condensor Microphone and it seems to not get as loud as i want and is full of static and distortion. I have a xlr cable that goes from my mic to my m-audio fast track pro that has the required amount of phantom power. I have a program called Acid 7.0 that I'm wanting to use to record. Seems like the vocals are never loud enough and have static. I've tried tweaking it by going from 0db to -10db and also back n forth between low cut and the other option you can click to on the actual mic. The xlr chord is input into the m-audio 1 connection. I'm not sure how far to turn all of the knobs and I also have to plug my headphones into the PC instead of my m-audio to hear anything in my headphones. I'm a rookie as you can tell so any information would be helpful!
