I am a service mechanic who responded to a call in a trailer that had a 4 ton down flow air handler that had a bad transformer. After replacing it, and observing it run, I noticed a gurgling noise coming from it. Upon further inspection I discovered that the fan was pulling the condensate off of the coil before it could make it to the drain. The homeowner confirmed that it had a long history of condensate problems, and there had been numerable companies there before I attempting to fix it. The coil itself had been replaced with a nordyne 47 k btu in recent years, but the fins have been bent over fairly badly on the return side of the coil. I believe the coil was not new when it was put in and could be the wrong one
