Tally 6215 Printer printing problem: The printer is able to print okay as long as there are hard coded PAGE BREAKS (form feeds). PROBLEM: We have files that are thousands of lines and rely on the printer to do the page break. On March 16,2011, The printer setting for paper size was changed from it't true size of 12x8.5 to 12x11.38 in order to get the printer to print the hard coded page breaks correctly. PROBLEM: When there are no hard coded page breaks, the printer prints 8 separate lines on 8 sheets and then resumes printing a full page. This pattern continues as long as there are no hard page breaks in the file. The problem with the Tally printer all began when the driver was updated to handle the 64 bit OS. Since then, a service person was called, and with Joan's help, they were able to band-aide....not fix the issue. Joan has a very good description of what we are dealing with now in her email below along with a test file. This band-aide also involves some manual updates to the file we are trying to print and is causing alot of time to be wasted.....and these are on smaller locations like Metro North. This will not work for the large NY projects. Additional Information: Basically what you have now is the paper size fudged to some odd size, with the printer itself still being set to 12x8.5. So any form feeds..manual or by special character codes in the text file work ok, but when you have more lines than can fit on the 12x8.5 paper size and the printer needs to advance to the next sheet, it prints a single line on the page until it gets to the correct line count of the fudged paper size and will resume printing a full page again
