The print head doesn't appear to be connected to the belt drive on my Epson C62. Is there a clip that has come undone that I can re-attach? Prior to this I was experiencing a clanking noise when the carriage was at the furthest extent of its travel (right-hand side). I realigned the heads using the utility software and that seemed to resolve the issue. However, today the clanking returned and the print started to move off the page. I have turned the printer off and back on again - the belt moves to ad fro a couple of times then stops and the central red light comes on. Any ideas?
If the carriage still moves, it's not the belt that has come undone. the best thing to do is remove the top cover (4 screws: two inside the front door, two on the back of the printer) and carefully remove the transparent ribbon that runs through the back of the ink carriage and clean this ribbon. it is used to measure the carriage's movement. be carefull not to stretch out the torsion spring. while you re-mount the ribbon, you can check if the drive belt is well fixed within the back of the carriage.
