Had 16 xi Trane heat pump installed 3 years ago. It ran well for the first couple of years. It began to stop heating and would blow cold air only. Have tried both aux heat and reg. heat to run and neither will budge the temp from 66. Runs for hours and does not move temp. If I run reg. heat the temp. actually drops. The repair guy says I need new breakers, although no breaker is blowing or tripping. He now says when they installed this 10,000.00 dollar full unit they only connected the 10k of the air handler and not the 5k heating strips. When they installed they did not say, but the breaker is a 60amp. They say I needed a 90 amp to run this unit. They never spoke of this when they installed this 16 seer unit and now say they cannot do anything until I have a new 100 amp or 90 amp breaker installed. Even though nothing is tripping the breaker. I have a 60amp breaker for heat pump and a 50amp for compressor? Two different circuits. I think the heat strips or the thermostat are not working properly. I had great heat the first couple of years. The heat pump now does not go into the slower mode as it did when it was first installed. It runs on high then shuts off immediately. This model had a two speed motor and only one speed is running. The compressor froze up a couple of winters ago an would not do anything but humm. The humidifier in the attic next to the air handler became so hot and would not shut off we had to unplug it. What do you think?
