I have a Dayton 1TDR3 blower motor for my wood stove that I would like to install a fan control switch on. I purchased a dimmer switch from Lowes, thinking that would work, but when I connect the black to black, black to white, and green to green, it blows the circuit. If I connect just one black from the switch to the black on the motor and the green to green, it doesn't do anything. Is there a way to connect the dimmer switch to use as a fan controller?
